To add to that, the final resolutions have been updated. Sidenor's allegations have been accepted, to which 3.87 million euros are proposed. Borgwarner’s allegations were also accepted, awarding them 22.15 million euros. Overall, the industrial PERTES have benefited 46 projects within industries connected to the chemical sector, making up of a total of nearly 160 million euros.

This marks the second edition of the Last Mile aid programme, aimed at implementing unique and transformative technological projects within tourism companies. The final resolution grants aid to 300 projects presented by nearly 400 beneficiaries. When speaking about the Modernization and Competitiveness Plan for the Tourism Sector, Sánchez Grau stressed that "the initiatives have been planned, and an unprecedented budget for tourism has been allocated in record amount of time." The Spanish Tourism Council (CONESTUR) unanimously approved a Declaration of Support for Tourism, which the secretary has given as an example of a “shared agenda.”. The final document of the Sustainable Tourism Strategy Spain 2030 is underway, aiming to place Spain as the global leader in sustainable tourism by placing people at the very centre of the tourism ecosystem.

From January to September, Spain welcomed 81.7 passengers, 11.7% up on 2023. The highest increase was recorded in the Region of Valencia with a rise of 15.9%; the lowest, the Canary Islands with 8.6% and Balearic Islands with 5%. As already seen in July and August, these data reveal a sustained trend towards greater diversification of destinations among international travellers. The trend towards market diversification is consolidated with good performance by Ibero-American countries (an increase of 15.6%), Canada (18.3%), China (71.8%) and Persian Gulf countries (34.9%).

In the last month of the summer, the number of registered workers in the tourism sector rose by 73,107 compared to the previous year. Employment in tourism stands at around 2.9 million registered workers, 13.5% of the economy as a whole. In September, the number of employees in the tourism sector increased by 3.1% compared to the same month in 2023. In both absolute and relative terms (4.5%), the Canary Islands is the region that saw most growth in September.

Minister Jordi Hereu chairs the meeting of the Spanish Tourism Council (CONESTUR), where new advances have been made to strengthen the Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2030. Hereu underlines the importance of dialogue and consensus to transform the sector, to place people at its very centre as well as to consolidate tourism as an engine of economic development. CONESTUR is an advisory and consultative body formed by the public sector (central, regional and local government) and the private sector (CEOE, Chambers of Commerce and union organisations) that met for the last time in October 2022.

With the aid that was announced today, the Stellantis Group has received nearly 300 million euros, more than 272 million euros in subsidies and 26 million euros in loans. The resolution, which will be published in the next few days, includes other aid; 2 million euros to Stellantis Vigo; 3 million euros for Mahle Behr Spain of Tarragona; and 2.5 million euros for Ficosa of Barcelona. The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has increased the subsidy for the PowerCo gigafactory in Sagunto, which is aiming to improve its project, and which now rises from 98 million euros to 152 million.

The Minister of Industry and Tourism valued the importance of PERTEs as an instrument to support new products and public corporations such as ENISA, which is behind various lines of credit for SMEs and certifies new startups. The minister recalled that this week the EOI has opened the application period for the first national edition of aid for the ‘Activa Startup’ programme assigned with a budget of around €7 million for grants of up to €9,500. At an event on SMEs held yesterday at the EOI headquarters, the president of the Government announced that the executive will allocate €4.5 billion in subsidies and nearly €50 billion in loans from the Recovery Plan.

Existing legislation in the EU must also be reduced and simplified as the regulatory framework is creating barriers and uncertainties for industrial investment. The OleotourJaén Tourism Sustainability Plan obtained 4.5 million euros from the 2022 National Food and Wine Plan. Hereu has highlighted the olive oil sector’s efforts in providing innovative and distinctive tourism experiences. Spain received 11.1 million international air travellers in August, 9.6% more than the same month in 2023
Between January and August, Spain received 71.2 million international air travellers, 11.9% up on 2023. The highest increase was recorded in the Region of Valencia with a 13.1% rise; the lowest in the Canary Islands with 9.8% and Balearic Islands with 6%. These figures highlight the sustained trend towards a greater diversification of destinations. The notable month-on-month growth of Poland is worthy of special mention, with 39.6%, United States with a 16.2% increase and ‘other countries’ with a rise of 12.1%. In terms of market diversification, Ibero-American countries, Canada, China and Persian Gulf countries stand out.

The Wine Routes Project has received more than €2.4 million in its various editions, with around €300,000 going to Castile-La Mancha. Between January and July of this year, Castile-La Mancha welcomed over 2.7 million tourists from other regions of Spain and more than 140,000 international tourists, who so far this year have spent around €190 million in the region. The boom of inland tourism in Castile-La Mancha is also reflected in increased employment. According to the latest social security affiliation data, more than 75,000 people are employed in work related to the tourism industry.

Also those included in the General Inventory of Spanish Historic Heritage Assets, declared of cultural interest or those with a special interest. The new regulation, which will enter into force on 1 October, urges councils to establish formulas in their municipal bylaws to allow this type of vehicles to circulate. Hereu reminded textile industry representatives that the Ministry of Industry has an instrument to support businesses in their energy transition -the decarbonisation PERTE- with several lines still open and to be opened. The sector has received help from the Circular Economy PERTE to improve the sustainability, competitiveness and innovation of textile and footwear manufacturing processes. Ametller Origen is included in the Agrosmed project, the business alliance promoted by fourteen companies with the aim of obtaining aid from the Agri-food PERTE. The group of companies has received 9 million euros from the first call of the Agro PERTE, of which 4.7 has been awarded to Ametller Origen. With this PERTE the Ministry of Industry and Tourism is aiming to create quality employment in the food and agriculture sector, especially in rural areas, where the agrifood business fabric has a larger presence.

This call for aid is aimed at encouraging investment in industrial production capacity of batteries for electric vehicles, their essential components as well as the production or recovery of necessary fundamental raw materials.
