Hereu highlighted the role that Spain plays in European collective security, leading the multinational NATO group in Slovakia, with continued presence in air missions in the Baltic countries and with naval deployment in the Baltic and the Eastern Mediterranean. The Industrial Value Chain Promotion Programme (CVI), which revitalises and unifies the Ministry of Industry and Tourism’s previous IDI and ACTIVA programmes, aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Spanish industry by facilitating its transition towards a more innovative, sustainable and digitalised economy. The Minister for Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, during his visit to the Col-legi d'Economistes de Catalunya, highlighted the importance of Catalan companies’ participation in this line of funding from the Ministry, with €7.3 million awarded in Catalonia to six companies, with over €2.6 million going to Lleida (Mollerussa, Miralcamp and Lleida city).

Highlights include 60 million for Hydnum in Puertollano and 24.6 million for ENCE in Pontes de García.

The PERTE VEC is one of the main levers to promote the transformation of the automotive sector, a strategic area for the Spanish economy due to its industrial and technological weight and its impact on employment. The Minister of Industry and Tourism has placed Spain at the centre of the European debate on the future of the automotive sector. To this end, he has highlighted the 2030 Spain Auto Plan, which includes the Auto+ Program grants for the acquisition of electrified vehicles. Industry has already granted more than €2,350 million of PERTE VEC, which has benefited 330 companies. The Government supports the European Commission's Automotive Sector Action Plan, which aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, reduce production costs to be on an equal footing with international competitors and harness the industry's power of innovation.

The Auto+, part of the Auto 2030 Plan, stems from a commitment by the Spanish Government to foster the demand and purchase of this type of vehicle to support the sector's transition to electric mobility. The Auto+ aid programme is managed by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, will have a budget of €400 million for 2026, and its benefits will be retroactive to 1 January 2026. Pure electric vehicles that are economical and manufactured in the EU will receive a higher percentage of aid.

With the inauguration of this new gigafactory, Spain adds a new plant aimed at strengthening the transition to electric mobility and the leadership of our country in the sector. The Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, has invested about €380 million in the Stellantis Figueruelas plant through the PERTE VEC and Industrial Decarbonisation, €270 million of which correspond to the gigafactory. In total, Stellantis has so far received support worth a total of €438 million for its plants in Spain.
